ActewAGL launches the ACT’s largest mixed-use EV charging hub in North Canberra

23 May 2025

ActewAGL is proud to announce the launch of the ACT’s largest mixed-use electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, opening on 23 May 2025 in Turner. Conveniently located on Watson Street near the Turner Parklands, ActewAGL’s new innovative EV charging hub has been designed to meet the growing demand for accessible and flexible charging across the region.

The Turner EV charging hub features two dual-port 75kW DC fast chargers and two dual-port 22kW AC chargers, ensuring flexible charging options to suit a variety of needs. Designed for broad compatibility, the site is equipped with three CCS plugs, one CHAdeMO plug, and four Type 2 sockets, supporting a wide range of electric vehicles. From the Nissan Leaf to the latest Tesla, BYD, BMW or Audi models, the EV charging hub can service any one of the 11,000-plus EVs on Canberra roads.

Conveniently located in close proximity to the city centre, Braddon, Australian National University and the Elouera Street light rail stop, the DC fast chargers are ideal for interstate commuters and locals on-the-go. The AC chargers offer a reliable solution for visitors to the Turner Parklands and residents of nearby apartment complexes who may not have access to private charging facilities.

“We know drivers often face the pressure of moving their vehicle the moment charging finishes, especially with fast chargers,” says ActewAGL Retail General Manager, Rachael Turner. “By providing a range of charging speeds, we’re easing this stress and giving drivers the flexibility to choose a charging speed that matches their plans.”

The Turner mixed-use EV charging hub is the latest addition to ActewAGL’s public EV charging network, delivered on Australia’s leading electric vehicle DC fast charging network - Evie Networks. With the launch of the Turner EV charging hub, ActewAGL’s network has expanded to 40 charging points across 12 strategically located sites for easy access by the community.

The Turner mixed-use EV charging hub was funded under round one of the ACT Government's Public EV Charging Infrastructure Fund, contributing to the ACT Government’s now-achieved goal of 180 public chargers across the territory by the end of 2025.

“The Turner hub marks a major step forward in our mission to make EV charging simple, reliable and convenient for everyone in our region,” says Turner. “We’re pleased to expand our network in a way that meets the real-world needs of EV drivers.”

To celebrate the launch of the ACT’s largest mixed-use EV charging hub, ActewAGL is giving away five $100 Evie charging vouchers. The vouchers can be used at any EV charging station within the Evie charging network, nationwide. Customers currently on ActewAGL’s evEnergy Saver Plan, as well as those who sign up prior to 30 June 2025, will automatically be entered into the draw to win one of the five vouchers.
