Battery Saver.

Do more with your energy storage. Further monetise your solar and battery system with Virtual Power Plant technology.

Updated.

Maximise the potential of your energy investments with a plan tailored for solar and battery owners.

As homes and energy systems become more integrated and connected, Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology is key to realising our sustainable energy future. VPPs provide reliability to the grid during peak times and extreme weather events. They can also decrease your energy costs by selling your unused energy back to us.

ActewAGL Battery Saver

By signing up to the ActewAGL Battery Saver plan, you can use leading-edge technology to increase your savings and functionality, including:

  • a great feed-in tariff for your first 10kWh per day
  • a discount on the electricity reference price
  • energy advice and assistance from our local team.

Discounts and pricing are dependent on your distribution network area. Customers in the ACT can view relevant information at the ACT residential prices page. Customers in NSW can view it at the NSW residential prices page.

  • A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of residential solar and battery systems, connected via smart technology. VPP technology allows excess or unused energy to flow from one home to another, supporting the electricity grid during peak times of the day.

VPPs improve grid stability, encourage the use of more renewable energy and give solar and battery owners the opportunity to further monetise their excess energy—it’s a win-win.

The VPP will never completely discharge your battery, it improves energy reliability and sustainability for you and your local community and it allows you to further monetise your energy investment—in addition to your feed-in tariffs.

  • To be eligible for the ActewAGL Battery Saver plan, you must:

    • Be a residential customer with an eligible Tesla Powerwall 2 or SolarEdge/LG Chem HV battery storage system operating at your electricity supply address.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions of participating in the ActewAGL Virtual Power Plant outlined in the ActewAGL Virtual Power Plant Services Agreement.
  • The ActewAGL Battery Saver plan (‘the Plan’) is an Ongoing Market Retail Contract with an initial 12-month benefit period for your electricity.

For existing ActewAGL customers, your plan term will start as soon as you accept the terms and conditions.

If you’re new to ActewAGL, your plan term will start when it suits you best—past, future or right away.

Your first benefit period will be one of the following, depending on your tariff type:

    ACT customers

The above annual bill amounts are based on an indicative residential customer in the ACT using 6,100 kWh a year without controlled load and 8,800 kWh a year with controlled load. Your bill will depend on your actual usage.

Any discounts or credits will not apply to any miscellaneous ActewAGL charges, Greenchoice products or any government taxes, fees, charges or levies.

Under ActewAGL’s Small Generator Buyback Scheme, a solar buyback rate of 10c/kWh for the first 10kWh per day, and 6c/kWh for all additional export, applies to the Plan.

Your meter must be configured for renewable energy export to be eligible for the feed-in tariff rate.

Rates are subject to change. If ActewAGL varies its market offer prices including your rates, fees, feed-in tariff or charges, we will provide you with a written notice of variation as soon as practicable, which may be after the variation takes effect but will be no later than your next bill.

Following acceptance of the Plan, you will be supplied with information relevant to the Plan including pricing, terms and conditions, a single written disclosure statement and cancellation and cooling-off notice via your preferred contact method, either email or post.

You can cancel your agreement anytime by notifying ActewAGL in writing at ActewAGL Retail, 40 Bunda Street, Canberra ACT, 2600, by calling 13 14 93 or by submitting the request while logged into your account at My.ActewAGL.

You have the right to a Standard Retail Contract with the designated retailer for your area that may not include a credit or a discount on your electricity.

You can raise disputes with ActewAGL. If you’re unhappy with the resolution provided, ACT residents can raise the dispute with the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) by calling 02 6207 7740 and NSW residents can raise the dispute with the Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) by calling 1800 246 545.

ActewAGL will contact you before your energy plan end date about a new benefit period. Your contract may be continued if you do not contact ActewAGL by the expiry of the energy plan.

If you are not currently an ActewAGL customer, ActewAGL will become your retailer for electricity, after your next meter read, which may take up to 7 business days.
