Your local energy provider
ActewAGL and our predecessors have been committed to the Canberra region for over 100 years—we have a big responsibility to the people who live here. We’re proudly Australian, with our journey beginning in 1915 when the Kingston Powerhouse was built to supply power to the newly established national capital.
Today, we’re your local electricity and gas retailer, providing energy to the Canberra region and nearby centres in the south-east NSW region including Queanbeyan, Goulburn, the Snowys, Nowra and the South Coast
As one of the ACT’s largest employers, our complete operations are delivered from the heart of Canberra. Our expert team are locals too, and truly understand your energy needs to provide personal energy advice and solutions. We’re here to empower you to waste less and save more.
Through our community partnerships, we fund and support various projects, organisations and events that make the capital region such a great place to live.
Along with the brightest minds in the nation’s capital, we’re focused to reimagine energy now and for future generations.
Who owns ActewAGL?
ActewAGL was set up in October 2000 when the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) and Icon Water Limited (formerly ACTEW Corporation), an ACT Government owned corporation, entered into Australia's first utility joint venture.
