Heating and hot water appliance upgrade terms and conditions

For quotes accepted before 7 July 2019

  1. These terms and conditions apply when you upgrade an existing heating system with a new high efficiency system or an existing hot water system.
  2. The Offer is only available to ACT residents for quotes accepted from 17 September 2018 and may be withdrawn without notice.
  3. The Offer is not available to a residential premises undergoing development or refurbishment under an existing development approval.
  4. Discounts and special conditions (including GST):
Existing Heating System New System ActewAGL Discount Special Condition
Natural gas flued heater. Eligible reverse cycle air-conditioning system. $2,000 or

 $2,500 for concession
 card holders.
This Offer does not include the permanent repair of the wall due to the removal of the flued natural gas heater. A temporary board will be installed to enclose the void in the wall left by removal of the existing gas flued heater.

ActewAGL recommends that the permanent repair of the wall be completed within 30 days.
Gas storage or instantaneous hot water system. Eligible hot water heat pump. $750 or

$1200 for concession card holders.

Electric resistance hot water system. Eligible hot water heat pump. $750 or

$1200 for concession card holders.

  1. Existing appliance systems are required to be decommissioned and removed from the premises.
  2. ActewAGL determines the eligibility of the systems to be installed based on various state and federal product registers, the manufacturer’s instructions, Australian standards, Energy Efficiency Scheme Codes of Practice. Only systems nominated by ActewAGL can receive a discount.
  3. Where applicable, an eligible concession card holders or households experiencing financial hardship will receive a higher discount.
  4. Eligible concession card holders must present one of the following concession cards which show that your residential address matches the installation address:
    • Government Energy Concession Card
    • Commonwealth Health Care Card
    • Commonwealth Pension Concession Card
    • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
    • Commonwealth Low Income Health Care Card
    • Commonwealth Disability Support Pension Card
    • War Widows Repatriation Card
    • Department of Veterans Affairs Pension Card
    • Department of Veterans Affairs TPI Card (gold)
    • Department of Veterans Affairs Repatriation Health Card (gold).
  5. For households that are not eligible for the concession cards listed above but where the household is experiencing financial hardship will need to be referred by a specified community organisation or are accessing an energy retailer’s hardship program will be eligible for a concession rebate under the Offer.
  6. This Offer is available from the following approved retailers:
    • ActewAGL Energy Shop, 100 Gladstone Street, Fyshwick.(Heating and Hot water)
    • Climate Master, 116 Wollongong Street, Fyshwick.(Heating)
  7. This Offer is not available for government projects, new homes, commercial projects or property developments and properties that are listed on the Asbestos Response Taskforce’s list of affected properties.
  8. To receive the discount, the home owner or resident must sign the consumer declaration on the Activity Record Form. ActewAGL is required to collect and record the information on the Activity Record Form under the Energy Efficiency (Cost of Living) Improvement Act 2012.
  9. Attendance may be required by the purchaser for a post installation inspection and customer handover. A person over the age of 18 must be available and on-site at all times when the installer is at the property.
  10. ActewAGL reserves its right to change these terms and conditions at any time and remove or otherwise modify the discount offered.
  11. ActewAGL is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). ActewAGL collects personal information in order to conduct the Offer and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers and reward suppliers. For quotes accepted after 8 July 2019

  1. These terms and conditions apply to the Energy Saving Solutions – Heating and cooling upgrade (Offer).
  2. The Offer is available to ActewAGL customers when they upgrade an existing Eligible heating system or Eligible hot water system with a new Eligible high efficiency system. Eligible Appliances are contained in the table below (Eligible Appliance).
  3. The Offer is only available to ACT residents for quotes accepted from 8 July 2019 and may be withdrawn without notice.
  4. The Offer is not available to a residential premises undergoing development or refurbishment under an existing development approval.
  5. The Offer is only available to ActewAGL customers, who have an active electricity account with ActewAGL at the time of purchasing the Eligible Appliance.
  6. Eligible Appliances - Discounts and special conditions (including GST):
Existing Heating System New System ActewAGL Discount Special Condition
Natural gas flued heater. Eligible reverse cycle air-conditioning system. $1,000 discount on costs of installation; and

$1,000 credited on your ActewAGL electricity account over 2 years ($125 credited per quarter); or

$1,520 credited on your ActewAGL electricity account over 2 years for eligible concession card holders ($190 credited per quarter).

Ducted natural gas heater  Eligible 11.2 kW to 25 kW ducted electric reverse cycle air-conditioner systems. $2,000 discount on costs of installation; and

$2,000 credited on your ActewAGL electricity account over 2 years ($250 credited per quarter); or

$3,000 credited on your ActewAGL electricity account over 2 years for eligible concession card holders ($375 credited per quarter).

  1. The credit will be applied quarterly to the customer’s ActewAGL electricity account over the annual period as defined in the Eligible Appliances table above. Should the customer close their ActewAGL account, the credit expires and will not be re-credited if the customer re-opens an ActewAGL electricity account.
  2. If the customer moves to another property and stays with ActewAGL the credit on the electricity account will move with the customer. It is the customer’s sole responsibility to advise ActewAGL about the move to ensure that the credit will be credited to the new property.
  3. The discount on the costs of installation applies to the person who is paying for the energy efficiency upgrade if holder of an ActewAGL electricity account. The credit on the ActewAGL electricity account applies to the person living in the property which received an energy efficiency upgrade. This can be an owner occupier or a tenant if holder of an ActewAGL electricity account.

  13. After Installation, the home owner agrees that ActewAGL or a third party it nominates may access the premises and install the Demand Response Enabling Device (Demand Response system) if not installed with the Eligible Appliance. 
  14. The home owner also agrees that ActewAGL or the relevant third party Controls the installed Eligible Appliance throughout the life time of the Eligible Appliance, for Demand Response services. Control means the remote control of the System by reducing the energy consumption of the system by 50%,75% or 100% (depending on the DRM signal) of the rated capacity of the system. During the time of any Control, the customer acknowledges and agrees that the appliance will only   appliance run at a fraction of the rated capacity.
  15. The home owner agrees that ActewAGL or a third party it nominates may access their property and the installed appliance in order to ensure the exercise of rights under clause 20 above (for example, to repair the installed appliance in the event that its control function is or could be affected). ActewAGL will provide the home owner with 14 days’ notice before accessing the customer’s property for the purposes of clause 20.
  16. ActewAGL reserves its right to change these terms and conditions at any time and remove or otherwise modify the discount offered.
  17. All amounts include GST unless otherwise stated.
