Fridge Buyback – Terms and conditions

1. To receive your free fridge/freezer removal the appliance needs to be in working order.
2. The offer is only available in the ACT to residential and business properties where the business premise is one that does not have energy reporting obligations under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (Cth), the Australian Governments’ Energy Efficiency in Government Operations Policy or the Carbon Neural ACT Government Framework.
3. Fridge/freezer removal will be free of charge if the removal involves twenty (20) steps or less and can be completed within 15 minutes.
4. Where an eligible two door fridge/freezer is removed from an eligible address and there is an active ActewAGL Electricity account for the address, it will entitle the ActewAGL Electricity account holder of that address to a $30 rebate.
5. A single door working fridge/freezer will be eligible for removal but a $30 rebate will not be payable by ActewAGL.
6. A fridge/freezer removal involving twenty one (21) steps or more or that is estimated to take more than 15 minutes will not be eligible for a $30 rebate payable by ActewAGL. Removal can still be arranged however a cost for removal will be quoted to the customer prior to collection.
7. Before the date of removal, the resident disposing of the fridge/freezer is responsible for ensuring the fridge/freezer is unplugged, has been emptied, defrosted and drained of any water from inside the appliance and in any drip trays.
8. Once ActewAGL has received confirmation, including a copy of the Fridge Buyback application form completed and signed by you, a $30 credit will be applied for eligible fridge/freezers. The credit will be applied to the ActewAGL electricity account for the address at which the fridge/freezer was removed from. A $30 credit can’t be applied if an ActewAGL electricity account is not active at the address from which the fridge/freezer was removed and therefore no payment will be made.
9. The rebate will be paid for eligible fridge/freezer removals once all eligible activity has been undertaken and the signed application has been received by ActewAGL and after the next scheduled read.
10. When arrangements have been made to leave the fridge/freezer outside, the fridge/freezer needs to be made safe so that no child can get inside by either removing the doors or using industrial-grade tape or rope to secure the doors shut. The application form needs to be left in the appliance or at a pre-arrange location. The appliance must be left on your property in an area without pets. The fridge/freezer must be left in an inconspicuous location.
11. No limits apply to the quantity of eligible fridge/freezers collected from a residential property. Multiple $30 rebates will apply for eligible fridge/freezers.
12. A business limit of three (3) eligible fridge/freezer will apply but can we reviewed on a case by case bases by calling the ActewAGL Fridge Buyback team on 1300 136 008. The decision by ActewAGL Fridge Buyback team will be final.
13. The removalists have the right to refuse to remove a fridge/freezer if they believe it is unsafe to do so, that removal may cause damage to the property or that the appliance is ineligible for the ActewAGL Fridge Buyback program.
14. If the fridge/freezer is being removed from inside a property, an adult over the age of 18 will need to be present.
15. If the removalists are unable to remove the fridge/freezer the collection will not be able to be completed and ActewAGL is under no obligation to remove the appliance.
16. You acknowledge that ActewAGL does not assume any responsibility for theft of the appliance left outside for collection.
17. You agree that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, ActewAGL (including its officers, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers) shall not be liable for any property damage or personal injury arising out of the collection of the appliance other than in the event of gross negligence or wilful misconduct on the part of ActewAGL.
18. If the removalist cannot access the fridge/freezer, a rebooking can be made but a $30 rebate payment will not be paid.
19. All amounts quoted include GST, unless otherwise stated.
20. Any personal information collected will be treated in accordance with ActewAGL’s Privacy Policy available at www.actewagl.com.au
21. ActewAGL accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise for the payment of the ActewAGL Fridge Buyback rebate.
