FAQs
-
What is the purpose of the Home Electrification Program?
Electrification readiness is a measure of how prepared your home is for electrification; this includes many things from the type of electricity meter to your cooking appliances and energy usage.
As the ACT further electrifies, it is important for ActewAGL to better understand what this means for customers and community, and how to support and advise them during this process.
The program has been designed to measure levels of electrification readiness, taking a staged approach over a six-month period.
-
How do I know if I'm eligible to participate in the Home Electrification Program?
Eligibility requirements:
- Resident in Oxley.
- Have a gas appliance connected to the gas network (excluding outdoor BBQs or similar that use bottled gas).
- A current or become an ActewAGL customer and have a corresponding gas and electricity account with ActewAGL
-
Why is the program only eligible to Oxley residents?
The program has been developed to better understand electrification readiness at a suburb level. ActewAGL considered suburbs across the ACT, selecting Oxley as the preferred suburb for the program.
As part of the design process, it was decided that the best approach would be to undertake the program within a single suburb in the ACT to maximise the usefulness of the program and ensure appropriate support and advice for participants.
If you are not a resident of Oxley please give us a call on 02 5110 2528 or email electrify@actewagl.com.au and one of our team members can discuss home electrification options available.
-
How do I sign up?
After checking your eligibility, please register your interest through the sign-up form at the top of this page.
-
Is there a selection process?
No. ActewAGL will check all participants' eligibility before including them in the program. A confirmation email will be sent once this is completed.
-
How long does the program run for?
The program runs for approximately 6 months, with three surveys during the period.
-
What am I required to do as part of the program?
The program is opt-in and requires participants to complete three surveys during the program period. Participants can leave at any time.
-
What do I get as part of the program?
In opting in to the program and completing the first survey you will receive a $50 energy credit and the option to undertake a EnergyFit home energy assessment (valued at $1,100) for $50. If you stay in the program there are two additional surveys including a $25 energy credit after completing each survey.
-
When will I receive the energy credits for completing surveys?
The $50 credit is applied to your ActewAGL electricity account within 5 business days of completing the first survey. Subsequent $25 credits are issued within the same time frame after each follow-up survey.
-
What does the survey require?
The surveys will be available online and sent out to participants via email. They will consist of questions about your household energy use, appliance types, and awareness of available government rebates. Surveys are designed to be straightforward and should take approximately 10-15 minutes each to complete. Your responses will help us tailor support and measure community readiness for electrification.
-
Do you share my data with any other parties?
All data collected is subject to the ActewAGL privacy policy, found here.
-
What is involved in an EnergyFit assessment? How much does it cost?

- Appliance efficiency evaluation
- Personalised electrification readiness report with actionable recommendations and estimated savings
The assessment is available to program participants for just $50 (a service valued at $1,100). [Learn more here.]

Absolutely, please call 02 5110 2528 or email electrify@actewagl.com.au and our Electrification consultants can organise this for you.
-
Do I have to undertake the EnergyFit assessment to participate in the program?
No, while the EnergyFit assessment is a valuable part of the program and we believe it will be beneficial to your electrification readiness, you do not have to undertake it to be part of the program.
-
Can I participate if I'm renting?
Yes, however you are limited to what actions you can undertake regarding appliance upgrades without the permission of your landlord, we recommend you undertake the EnergyFit assessment and use this to discuss further, should you wish, with your landlord or property manager.
-
Why do I have to be an ActewAGL customer to participate?
The program is only available to ActewAGL customers. To maximise the usefulness of the program and ensure participants receive appropriate support and advice it is exclusive to ActewAGL customers. If you are not an ActewAGL customer, you can become one prior to joining the program here.

This is no problem, however unfortunately we will have to remove you from the program as you must reside in Oxley to remain eligible for the program, see program eligibility requirements above.
-
Do I have to upgrade or replace an appliance during the program?
No, the aim of the program is to understand electrification readiness, as such there is no requirement for you to replace or upgrade any home appliance.
