Cook and the Pacific family experience competition

Terms and conditions

  1. The following terms and conditions apply to the “Cook and the Pacific Family Experience Competition” (Competition) and by submitting an entry to this Competition entrants warrant that they have read, understand and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  2. The Competition runs from 9am on Monday 26 November 2018 and closes at 5pm on Friday 14 December 2018.
  3. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. Each entry will be individually judged based on literary and creative merit, the one (1) most creative entry, in the opinion of the judges, will win the Prize. The judge’s decision will be final and cannot be contested. No correspondence will be entered into.
  4. There is one (1) Prize to be won valued at $552. The winner will be chosen by the ActewAGL judge’s panel. The Prize consists of:
    • Special tour of Cook and the Pacific exhibition for a small group (at minimum, two adults and two children) and one (1) copy of Cook and the Pacific exhibition book and a 20% discount voucher for purchases from the National Library of Australia bookshop.
    • One (1) nights’ accommodation in a two bedroom family suite including buffet breakfast for two adults and two children at the Forrest Hotel valid for one night on Saturday 19th January 2019 and overnight secure parking for one car, complimentary newspaper and espresso coffee.
    • Canberra Urban Adventures 1.5 hour family electric bike trip (two adults and two children): ‘Inside the Heart of Canberra’. Starting at 9am and finishing at 10:30am in front of the National Library. The tour includes Reconciliation Place, National Gallery of Australia outdoor sculpture garden, Old Parliament House gardens, new Parliament House native bush paths and a ride around the central lake including a stop at the Captain Cook memorial globe
    • Four Akiba ‘feed me’ vouchers for dinner valid until 21 November 2019.
  5. Employees and their immediate families of ActewAGL, Icon Water Limited (ABN 86 069 381 960), AGL ACT Retail Investments Pty Ltd (ABN 53 093 631 586), Jemena Networks (ACT) Pty Ltd (ABN 24 008 552 663) and their related bodies corporate are ineligible to enter the Competition.
  6. Only one (1) entry per person to the Competition is permitted.
  7. Entrants must be 18 years or over and be a current ActewAGL electricity customer at the time of the Prize draw.
  8. To enter the Competition, entrants must complete the entry form on the ActewAGL Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ActewAGL On the entry form, entrants must include their DOB, name, address, email address, telephone number, confirmation that they are an ActewAGL customer and answer the question “Tell us about a fun fact about your family history” In 25 words or less to be eligible for a chance to win. Once the online entry form is complete the entrant’s entry will be submitted for judging.
  9. Each entry must be the entrant’s original work and by entering this Competition, entrants:
    (a) consent to ActewAGL making copies of or publishing the whole or any part of their entry; and
    (b) undertake to ActewAGL that their entry is not, and its use by ActewAGL will not be in breach of any third party intellectual property rights.
  10. Incomplete or incomprehensible entries will be ineligible to win the Prize whether due to error, omission, deletion or otherwise and will be disqualified. In the case of an ineligible entry being selected as a winner, the Prize will be awarded to the next best entrant as selected by the judging panel.
  11. The Prize will be drawn at ActewAGL House, 40 Bunda Street Civic ACT 2600 at 9am on Tuesday 18 December 2018 and the Prize winner’s will be contacted by telephone and confirmed in writing via email. The winner’s name will also be published at actewagl.com.au/competitions and on the ActewAGL Facebook page.
  12. The winner will be advised as to the collection method. The winner must collect their Prize by 12pm on Thursday 27 December 2018. In the event of an unclaimed prize, the entry deemed to be the next best, according to the judges will be awarded the Prize. If required this will take place at 3pm on Thursday 27 December 2018 at ActewAGL House, 40 Bunda Street Canberra City ACT 2600, and the winner will be contacted by telephone and confirmed in writing via email and this contact will include collection details.
  13. ActewAGL may require the winners to provide identification as required by ActewAGL including (without limitation) proof of identity, proof of age and proof of residency. Identification considered suitable for verification is at ActewAGL’s discretion and may include suitable photo identification.
  14. The Prize is not redeemable for cash or other goods and services and must be taken, as is, by the winners.
  15. ActewAGL is not responsible for arranging or paying for any additional or ancillary costs associated with the Prize including but not limited to spending money, and transport costs.
  16. ActewAGL accepts no liability or responsibility in the event the Prize is unavailable or cancelled for any reason whatsoever. ActewAGL reserves the right to substitute an alternative Prize of similar value subject to the approval of the relevant authorities in each state and territory where required.
  17. ActewAGL is not liable for any loss suffered or sustained in connection with the Prize, except for liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  18. ActewAGL accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries including but not limited to entries not received by ActewAGL due to technical disruptions, network congestion or any other reason.
  19. If for any reason any aspect of this Competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other reason beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion, cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition or invalidate any affected entries. This is subject to the approval of the relevant authorities in each state and territory where required.
  20. ActewAGL may in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in the Competition by any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the Competition or aids in violation of these terms and conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
  21. Entrants and participants acknowledge that this Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook and entrants and participants release Facebook and its associated companies from all liability arising from this Competition.
  22. By participating in the Competition, each entrant acknowledges that a further primary purpose for collection of entrants’ personal information by ActewAGL is to enable ActewAGL to use the information to assist ActewAGL in providing the Prize and to contact entrants in the future with information on special offers or provide entrants with marketing materials via any medium including mail, telephone and commercial electronic messages, (SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multimedia Message Service), IM (Instant Messaging) and email) or any other form of electronic, emerging, digital or conventional communications channel whether existing now or in the future. ActewAGL may share information with its related bodies corporate who may contact entrants with special offers in this way. By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees that ActewAGL may use entrants’ personal information in this manner. Each entrant also agrees that ActewAGL may publish or cause to be published the winners name and locality in any media as required under the relevant legislation. All personal information will be stored at the office of ActewAGL.
  23. To the extent permitted by law, all entrants release from, and indemnify ActewAGL against all liability, cost, loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits) or expense arising out of acceptance of the Prize or participation in the Competition including (but not limited to) loss of income, loss of opportunity, personal injury or death or damage to property, whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
  24. Entrants are providing information to ActewAGL, and not to Facebook. Any personal information collected will be treated in accordance with the ActewAGL Privacy Policy available at actewagl.com.au
  25. Entries become the property of the Promoter and entrants agree that their entries may be published on the ActewAGL website, ActewAGL Facebook page, or used for publicity or promotional purposes.
  26. Without limiting any other clause, ActewAGL may amend any aspect of the Competition or any of these terms and conditions subject to applicable laws and the approval of the relevant authorities.
  27. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the Prize winnings.
  28. Entries not fully complying with these terms and conditions of entry may be deemed invalid at the Promoter’s discretion
  29. All amounts include GST unless otherwise stated.
