John Knox, Chief Executive Officer

John KnoxJohn Knox is the Chief Executive Officer of ActewAGL. Before taking on this role in November 2018, John was Managing Director of Icon Water, a board member of the ActewAGL Joint Venture Board and Deputy Chair of the Water Services Association of Australia.

He previously held the role of Chief Finance Officer at ActewAGL from 2007 to 2014 and has served the Canberra community through his work in the utility sector for more than a decade. John has an extensive background in private-sector commercial management.

John is a Fellow of CPA Australia, has a Bachelor of Financial Administration, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rachael Turner, Acting General Manager – Retail

Rachael Turner

As Acting General Manager Retail, Rachael is responsible for developing retail energy markets, customer acquisition strategies, sales and marketing, wholesale activities and retail regulation. Rachael has previously held senior roles in ActewAGL Distribution and ActewAGL Retail spanning strategic and operational human resource development, wholesale energy settlements, product development and marketing. Rachael has been with the business for 15 years, and holds an MBA from Charles Sturt University.

James Dunlop, General Manager – New Energy

James Dunlop

As General Manager of New Energy, James is responsible for leading the development and commercialisation of innovative new energy solutions and utility-related services for the Capital Region. Prior to joining ActewAGL five years ago, James held roles in a number of private sector organisations including Lend Lease and Macquarie Group. James holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Systems) (Honours).

Sam Sachse, Chief Financial Officer

Sam Sachse As Chief Financial Officer, Sam is responsible for the overall financial management of the business, including procurement and facilities.

Sam has extensive accounting and commercial experience in the water and energy sectors and holds a Master of Applied Finance and Bachelor of Accountancy. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tania Hutchison, General Manager – People and Legal

Tania Hutchison

Tania is responsible for people-related services including talent and organisational capability; people support and payroll; and strategic safety and health. She leads all aspects of corporate human resources management, including enterprise agreement negotiation, employee relations, talent sourcing and selection, organisational capability, workforce planning, equity and diversity, culture, remuneration and benefits, and employment policy and procedures. Tania oversees the legal, risk, quality, internal audit, fraud control and compliance teams and, in conjunction with the Head of People Solutions and Support is responsible for internal communications, corporate affairs and ministerials.

Andy Williams, Chief Information Officer

Andy is the Chief Information Officer. Andy was GM PT3 and Strategic Programs at AGL in Melbourne. In this role, Andy was responsible for one of the largest technology programs at AGL, replacing five old ERP systems, and creating a common, more effective way of working across the finance, procurement, maintenance, HR and payroll functions. Andy was also responsible for proving oversight of AGL's full portfolio of transformation programs, reporting to the CEO and Executive team.

Previously, Andy was a senior partner with a large consulting company, running business and technology transformation programs in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand for more than twenty years. In 2010, he moved from consulting to become GM Enterprise Transformation at Contact Energy in New Zealand.

Andy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, and is a Chartered Electrical Engineer.

Philip Deamer, Acting Director – Regulatory Affairs and Pricing

Phil Deamer

As Acting Director Regulatory Affairs and Pricing, Philip is responsible for economic regulation and compliance functions, including the conduct of major price reviews, setting out of regulated network prices, economic analysis and investments review, and regulatory and pricing services. Philip previously held senior roles in ActewAGL Distribution and has extensive commercial and project management experience in both the government and the private sectors. Philip holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian National University here in Canberra, as well as a Diploma in Company Directorship from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
