For more than two decades ActewAGL has been the major sponsor of the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show, while at the same time raising much-needed funds for a local charity.

Today local organisation Care Inc, which helps low-income consumers overcome debt, was announced as this year’s ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show charity partner.

“We have a strong relationship with Care, which delivers energy literacy workshops, provides financial counselling and has issued a total of $200,000 in Energy Support Vouchers to ActewAGL customers,” said Michelle Rowe, ActewAGL Head of Brand, Communications and Corporate Affairs.

“Over the past two years ActewAGL and Care have partnered on a range of customer energy inclusion strategies.”

At this year’s show, a range of cute and cuddly coloured ActewAGL plush pigs will be on sale for $5 each – with every cent raised going to Care Inc to continue its community support programs.

“It is fantastic to be named this year’s charity partner,” said Carmel Franklin, Care Inc CEO.

“We already have a strong working relationship with ActewAGL through the varied support they provide their customers facing hardship, and today’s announcement means a lot to our service and our clients.

“Care currently responds to nearly 2000 requests for assistance each year. The funds raised at the show will make a difference to those we are working with to improve their financial situation.

“We can provide them with support such as negotiating with creditors, developing budgets, and by providing information and devising strategies to help them resolve their financial situation.”

Gates at the Royal Canberra Show open 8.30am on Friday 22 February, and the show runs until Sunday 24 February. For more information and to view the show guide visit:
