Woodlawn Wind Farm
The Woodlawn Wind Farm will be located along the Great Dividing Range on Collex's Woodlawn Bioreactor and Pylara agricultural properties on Collector Road, near Tarago (refer to the area map at the Woodlawn wind farm website).
It will consist of 25 wind turbines and feature a viewing platform and educational displays for passing visitors.
The wind farm will be capable of producing sufficient green electricity for 22,000 homes, replacing over 124,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
Following comprehensive environmental studies and assessments the project received Development Application (DA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) approval from the NSW Minister for Planning, Mr Frank Sartor in October 2005.
The local community has also been very supportive of the project, which will generate over $96 million in investment and jobs during construction as well as flow on economic benefits for the surrounding communities of Tarago and Bungendore.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to commence during 2006.
Green energy sources like wind farms help Australia meet its greenhouse gas reduction targets and offset the use of non-renewable fuels such as coal and oil.
