Gas five year plan

During 2015 ActewAGL Distribution consulted with the community about plans for the gas network for the five years 2016-17 to 2020-21.  It was an opportunity for the community to better understand the network and provide us with feedback.  A number of documents were released as part of this consultation program:

The Gas Network – Our 5 Year Plan
Summary of comments received from the community
Our 5 Year Plan – Further Information

These documents were also discussed during community workshops and by our Energy Consumer Reference Council.

On 30 June 2015 ActewAGL Distribution presented the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) with our five year proposal.  Called The ActewAGL Distribution Gas Access Arrangement Submission, this document is based on feedback we received from the community. A summary of this Submission can be found here

Information on the review process being undertaken by the AER, including a full copy of ActewAGL Distribution’s Submission, is available on the Regulator’s website here. The AER has invited community comment on ActewAGL Distribution’s Submission which can be provided directly to the AER. Community comments are required by 10 August 2015.

Our five year plan has seven key priorities.

5 year plan summary

The Plan provides information on the gas network over the five years 2016-17 to 2020-21 including:

  • Exploring what makes up the average gas bill - distribution charges and retail charges
  • Details on the total revenue collected by ActewAGL Distribution over the past five years
  • Information about where ActewAGL Distribution spends the revenue we raise across operational costs and capital investment
  • Proposals to restructure the way ActewAGL charges in the future for the services we provide
  • Information on the Australian Energy Regulator process that will determine the final prices of gas distribution for the five year period.

During our consultation on the gas network we hosted a number of community and business workshops. Copies of the presentations given at these workshops are available here.

In November 2015, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) released its draft decision with respect to our gas network for the years 2016-17 to 2020-21. A copy of the draft decision can be found on the Regulator’s website. ActewAGL Distribution lodged our response to this draft decision on 6 January 2015. A copy of our response to the draft decision is also available on the AER's website.

Further information on our proposal to the AER, including details on our community consultation activities can be found here.
