Trade waste

ActewAGL provides services for the safe and efficient collection, transport and treatment of sewer-based liquid waste, or non-domestic waste, generated by the commercial sector.

Trade waste discharges must be managed appropriately to ensure that the sewerage system works effectively. Potential problems include:

  • safety problems for people who work with the sewerage system and the public, such as contact with toxic or hazardous materials, and explosive atmospheres
  • environmental damage to waterways
  • the reduction in viability of re-use schemes for sewage effluent if unsuitable substances are present
  • damage to the sewers or Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC), thereby reducing their asset life.

All trade waste must be approved prior to discharge by ActewAGL. Application forms are available from the ActewAGL Water Division depot at 12 Hoskins Street Mitchell or can be ordered by calling 13 14 93.

For further information contact ActewAGL or call 13 14 93.

ACTEW provides Trade Waste Acceptance Notes as guidelines outlining under what circumstances the company will permit the discharge of liquid waste into the sewerage network. Click here to review or download one of these Notes.
