ACT Pensioner and Veteran rebates — electricity and/or water and sewerage

If you hold a current pensioner concession card or Department of Veterans' Affairs gold card, you may be eligible for a rebate on your electricity and/or water and sewerage charges.

The electricity rebate is calculated on a daily basis. There are two different rebate rates that apply at different times through the year, depending on the season (Winter/Spring or Summer/Autumn). The water and sewerage rebate is calculated as a percentage of your supply charges. Each rebate will appear on your respective bill as a separate line item.

Please note: you must be listed as the current account holder to be eligible.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the rebate for each billing period:

  • only one rebate will be allowed for an account in each billing period
  • the property relating to the account has to be the sole or principle place of residence of the applicant
  • the applicant has to provide ActewAGL with details of the concession card. The pensioner concession card has to be issued to the applicant by Centrelink and the gold card (certain types only), by the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Please note
  • If there is more than one water and sewerage account holder and only one account holder holds a concession card, the rebate will be calculated on the percentage share of the property. (For example, if one person owns 80 per cent of the property and the other owns 20 per cent, the rebate will be calculated based on the percentage of the property owned by the concession holder.)
  • To receive the full rebate, all account holders must be pensioners and/or Veterans' Affairs gold card holders.
  • Pensioners and/or Veterans' Affairs gold card holders are entitled to the full rebate on their electricity account regardless of the number of account holders.
