There are two ways to buy Greenchoice. You can either opt for a fixed amount each day or a variable amount based on a percentage of the electricity you use. In either case, that amount of new renewable energy is added to the electricity grid on your behalf. This helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the generation of electricity from fossil fuels.
Depending on the plan you choose, we will buy a fixed amount of green energy on your behalf each day. This way, you know exactly how much you will pay every quarter for Greenchoice, no matter what your total electricity account comes to. As a guide, a three-bedroom home uses 10-30kWh of electricity per day. This equates to 3.43-10.30 tonnes pa.
There are four plans to choose from under this option. You can purchase more than 20kWh per day if you wish.
Anyone living anywhere in Australia can sign up to a fixed-use Greenchoice plan. You don’t need to be an existing ActewAGL customer. If you are not an existing ActewAGL customer, ActewAGL will bill you separately for your Greenchoice fixed use plan. If you are an existing ActewAGL customer, the additional amount for your Greenchoice fixed use plan will appear separately on your electricity bill.
