What is Greenchoice?

Greenchoice is ActewAGL's green energy program that gives everybody the opportunity to contribute to a greener future by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from their home or business by increasing the amount of electricity sourced from accredited GreenPower generators. Through Greenchoice you help us buy electricity from sources that have a reduced impact on the environment, and sources that cannot be depleted or can be replaced such as wind power, solar, mini-hydro and biomass.

The Greenchoice program is independently assessed by the government's National Green Power Accreditation Program to guarantee that the green energy we source comes from government-approved renewable energy sources.

These energy sources do not produce the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.

As of 31 March 2010, over 17,000 Greenchoice customers have contributed to saving greenhouse gas emissions. In 2009, 135,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were saved by customers taking part in the Greenchoice program. That's like taking 30,900 cars off the road for a year! So a special thank you to all of our Greenchoice customers.
