Wind development opportunities
ActewAGL has formed a joint venture with Collex Pty Ltd and renewable energy development company EHN (Oceania) Pty Ltd to establish a wind farm on the Woodlawn and Pylara properties near Tarago, NSW.
We have commenced environmental and grid-connection studies, planning assessments and a community consultation program. This work will take nearly a year to complete and will utilise data recorded by a number of monitoring towers already installed on site.
The project aims to create a renewable energy supply by harnessing the wind resource, while minimising environmental impacts and working closely with key stakeholders and the local community.
With an initial proposed capacity of 66 megawatts, the Woodlawn wind farm would be one of the largest green energy sites in NSW. Electricity generated by the wind farm would be used to supply renewable green energy to some 30,000 homes every year.
Green energy sources like wind farms help Australia meet its greenhouse gas reduction targets and offset the use of non-renewable fuels such as coal and oil.
