ActewAGL Solar Buyback scheme and the ACT Government's Electricity Feed-in Renewable Energy Generation scheme
The ActewAGL domestic Solar Buyback scheme is the existing (default) scheme which outlines how ActewAGL will buy the energy back from customers who generate solar energy but have not applied for the ACT Government's Electricity Feed-in Renewable Energy Generation scheme.
The scheme legislation is different – it offers a premium payment in comparison to the Solar Buyback scheme.
If you are an existing ActewAGL customer (with an existing solar photovoltaic connection) you still need to apply separately to receive the premium payments under the ACT Government's Electricity Feed-in Renewable Energy Generation scheme.
If you are a new customer, you will not automatically be switched to the ACT Government's Electricity Feed-in Renewable Energy Generation scheme. You will default to the solar generation tariff until you apply for the scheme.

In the event that the customer is a net exporter of energy over a billing period, ActewAGL will purchase the net energy exported at a rate of 7.4¢ per kilowatt hour.
The customer will continue to pay the supply charge. In billing periods when the customer is not a net exporter of energy, the customer will pay the published tariffs for the net amount of energy imported for their use from the electricity grid. |
Under this scheme, customers will be paid a price approximately three times higher than the average ACT retail price (excluding GST).
For customers who sign up before 30 June 2010 this amount will be 50.05 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) generated for systems with a capacity up to 10 kilowatts (kW). For systems with a capacity between 10kW and 30kW a rate of 40.04 cents per kWh will be paid.
For customers who sign up between 1 July 2010 and 30 June 2012 this amount will be 45.7 cents per kWh generated for systems with a capacity up to 30kW. |
