ActewAGL solar
Canberra households can now use renewable energy to help
reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, usually released through the conventional
electricity production methods.
Australia is a country that mostly enjoys abundant sunlight year round. By using
solar or photovoltaic (PV) cells we can capture this sunlight and turn it into solar
energy without emitting any harmful substances into the environment. This is a practical
way to reduce our dependence on traditional electricity sources such as coal, oil and gas, which can be harmful.
ActewAGL is working to encourage the use of renewable energy sources,
offering support and advice to those interested in installing solar generation systems to their homes.
Through the ActewAGL Solar scheme you can install a solar system to your home, utilising
the non-polluting energy that it generates and at the same time reduce the amount of electricity
you draw from the grid for your household needs.

Photovoltaic (PV)
PV systems generate electricity directly from sunlight. These systems are
ideal for homeowners as they have no moving parts, noise or pollution
and minimal maintenance or cleaning is required. If your system is connected
to the grid, this then allows you to have the freedom to use your energy
as you please.
ActewAGL's electricity tariff arrangements gives you credit for the solar
energy that your system generates, and this amount is subtracted from your total consumption.
You only pay for the electricity you have not produced but taken from the grid.
