Greywater
Greywater is wastewater from the kitchen, laundry and bathroom that does not contain faecal matter from toilets.
While this greywater is relatively simple to capture, recycling it for use on gardens is more complex. Some cleaning products used in homes are pollutants that can damage a garden or person’s health. Bacteria or other microscopic life in greywater can also cause harm. Care must be taken when reusing this water to prevent plants or animals catching diseases.
The ACT government provides guidelines
for the appropriate and safe use of greywater.
