ActewAGL
ActewAGL

ActewAGL provides residents and businesses across the ACT and south-east NSW with reliable and competitively priced electricity, natural gas and internet services and manages water and wastewater services within the ACT.

Australia's first multi-utility, the company was formed in 2000 by the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL), a major private sector group, and ACTEW Corporation, a government-owned utility.

ActewAGL is also committed to the sustainable use of essential energy and water resources both locally and internationally. A number of business and green energy initiatives testify to this commitment, including Ecowise Environmental, ActewAGL Greenchoice, ActewAGL Hydro and ActewAGL Solar.

ActewAGL, in conjunction with its partners, developed the Eco-living Exhibition to promote sustainable water and energy use and help households understand and adopt environmentally sustainable design principles.

ACTEW Corporation
ACTEW

ACTEW is a government-owned holding company whose primary functions are to provide energy, water and wastewater services to the ACT through its 50 per cent ownership of the ActewAGL joint venture, ownership of the water and wastewater assets and the contract with ActewAGL for the operation and management of these assets.

ACTEW was established as a corporation on 1 July 1995 and is the largest government business operation in the ACT.

Canberra Investment Corporation
CIC

From modest beginnings in the early 1990s, Canberra Investment Corporation Limited (CIC) has grown into one of the ACT region's most successful and progressive development companies. Several of the region's most prestigious housing estates owe their success to CIC's unique approach to urban planning and design. This approach involves careful attention to detail, ensuring that each community develops its own character, with residents enjoying a strong sense of social cohesion.

CIC has made extensive use of innovative urban design, covenants and design guidelines, sometimes in conjunction with Community Title arrangements, to ensure that the quality of residential areas is maintained. As a result, the investment of purchasers is protected.

In all projects it is CIC's policy to recognise, protect and enhance the environment and improve sustainability. They require all consultants and subcontractors to design, implement and maintain appropriate environmental management practices.

The Eco-living Exhibition illustrates CIC's central theme of genuine sustainability — environmental, social and economic. This "triple bottom line" sustainability approach will be the hallmark of all future major communities to be created by CIC.
