About the exhibition
ActewAGL is proud to partner with ACTEW Corporation (ACTEW) and Canberra Investment Corporation (CIC), along with many Canberra businesses, to develop the innovative energy- and water-efficient display homes at Majura Rise Estate, North Watson.
The display homes, which are GreenSmart certified, showcase an integrated approach to sustainable design in terms of energy and water conservation, including:
- rainwater tanks
- greywater treatment systems
- low-water use gardens
- photovoltaic electricity generation
- cross ventilation
- thermal mass walls and floors
- solar chimneys
- compact fluorescent light fittings
- slab and roof insulation.
The outdoor areas surrounding the homes have been professionally landscaped by local garden designers and feature a variety of water-saving devices and techniques including drip irrigation, minimal lawn areas, creative paving and drought-resistant plants.
All income ranges have been considered in the development of the homes to ensure everyone has an opportunity to implement these practical and innovative solutions in their own homes.
