Protection for your income

Being off work for an extended period of time can have devastating effects on any individual or family.

ActewAGL and our associated unions have arranged an Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for our employees.

This means we can pay employees regular and ongoing income benefits if an employee is unable to work because of injury or sickness (as determined by the insurer).

Need more leave?

Do you want extra leave each year? Perhaps you want to go overseas? Perhaps you need to care for children during school holidays?

In order to assist employees and foster organisational flexibility, we offer a 48/52 scheme, which may be implemented between management and employees.

Depending on operational requirements, employees can buy up to an additional four weeks leave each year. This means you take home a reduced salary, but have access to a maximum of four weeks extra paid time off each year!

Salary sacrifice your utilities

Salary sacrifice is a great way to reduce your taxable income while affording big-item necessities such as laptops or cars.

With ActewAGL however, you get to salary sacrifice your electricity, water and natural gas accounts. This translates to a Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) exempt amount of $1,332 a year.

Other services you could salary sacrifice include:

  • laptops (notebooks)
  • novated vehicles
  • complying superannuation fund.

Career progression

We put in a lot of resources into the training and development of our employees. Our commitment to the development and progression of our people is real.

Apart from regular courses and workshops, we offer a study assistance program that allows employees to engage in approved studies relating to their current profession, or even a new profession in another area within the organisation.

Employee health and wellness

Feeling good physically, mentally and emotionally is key to great performance.

We also understand that pressures of life and unforeseen circumstances can take a toll on anyone's health and wellbeing.

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free confidential counselling service set-up to help our employees and their family members deal with personal or work-related issues.

Other health and wellness programs and initiatives include:

  • vaccinations and inoculations
  • discounted gym memberships
  • time away from work for blood donation
  • ACTive and Fitsense programs, providing snapshots for each employee on their health and wellness, information seminars and optional exercise and activity programs.
