Tips for selecting solar panels and inverters

  • Look for an inverter with a higher ‘Euro efficiency’ rather than ‘peak efficiency’. Euro efficiency measures efficiency over a broad range of load, which is what’s really important.
  • A linear performance warranty is important, as it provides you with a guarantee that your solar panels will perform at a higher output over the entire 25-year period, compared to what a standard warranty will offer you. See our handy solar guide for more info.
  • The performance ratio is an indication of how the solar panel operates under “real world” conditions compared to lab conditions you’ll see quoted on a spec sheet. Not many panels perform at over 90%, so it’s important to check that yours will. See our handy solar guide for more info.
  • Panels offering 15% efficiency or more is good for solar panels. See our handy solar guide for more info.
