Electricity rebates in NSW and the ACT

If you have a Pensioner Concession card, a Veterans' Affairs gold card or a Health Care card, or if you rely on life support equipment, you or the account holder of the place where you permanently live may be eligible for a rebate or concession on your electricity account.

In addition, if you have one of these cards and live in NSW and someone living in your home is unable to self-regulate body temperature you may also be eligible for a concession.

Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme

Thinking of installing a grid-connected, solar electricity system to your home? Find out about the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) managed by the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator. (Certain off-grid solar generators may also be eligible.)

The SRES creates a financial incentive for owners to install eligible small-scale installations such as solar water heaters, air sourced heat pumps and small generation units (small-scale solar panel, wind and hydro systems).

Eligible systems are entitled to a certain number of small-scale technology certificates (STCs) based on the amount of renewable electricity the system produces or displaces. These STCs can be created and sold to buyers (usually liable entities such as electricity retailers).
