About our network
On 1 January 2018, the part of ActewAGL that looks after the electricity and gas network will be changing its name to Evoenergy.
Why are we changing?
Currently, ActewAGL is the brand name for the retail business and the electricity and natural gas network business. To help reduce confusion, the Australian Energy Regulator has told us to change the name of the electricity network business, which manages and maintains the poles, wires, pipes, substations and mini pillars.
For consistency, the natural gas network business in the ACT, Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Bungendore and Nowra will also be rebranded Evoenergy.
ActewAGL will continue to be the brand used by the retail business, which sells electricity and gas and looks after billing and customer enquiries.
In the coming months you will start to see the branding change and the introduction of the new Evoenergy logo below on uniforms, vehicles and signage, plus a new website.
What does this mean for ACT customers?
This is simply a change of name. Our service to you doesn’t change.
We will continue to maintain the electricity and gas networks with the high standard of service, safety and reliability that we currently provide.
You can continue to report unplanned outages on the emergencies and faults line 13 10 93 for electricity and 13 19 09 for gas.
Our Greenway depot is still available to make payments for requested electricity work, to purchase meter padlocks and seek general advice regarding electricity and gas infrastructure.
What does this mean for NSW customers?
Evoenergy and our existing contractor Zinfra will continue to maintain the gas network with the high standard of service, safety and reliability that we currently provide.
You can continue to report unplanned outages on the emergencies and faults line 13 19 09.
What are you rebranding and why?
Evoenergy is the new name for the network businesses that manage the gas pipelines and the electricity powerlines and cables.
The Australian Energy Regulator told us to make this change to reduce confusion between the retail part and the infrastructure part of ActewAGL.
This is part of the AER’s new ring-fencing rules.
ActewAGL will continue to be the brand used by our retail business, which sells electricity and gas and looks after customer accounts.
Why have you chosen this name?
As the energy industry evolves, so must we.
Our new brand, Evoenergy, allows us to build on our past as a safe and reliable electricity and gas service provider and create a future driven by innovation and technology.
Evoenergy is inspired by the abbreviated form of the word evolution, and represents staying ahead of the game to meet the needs of our engaged customers.
Why release the name now?
The name change takes effect on 1 January 2018, but we appreciate that customers don’t engage with their energy provider every day.
Therefore, we’re starting to tell customers now, so that by 1 January the community is generally aware of the change and familiar with the services provided by both Evoenergy and ActewAGL.
When is the new brand effective from?
1 January 2018
What about customer safety and security?
All employees and contractors with ActewAGL and Evoenergy always carry photo identification.
If photo ID cannot be shown and customers have concerns about their safety, we recommend they immediately contact the police.
ActewAGL and Evoenergy will never request face-to-face payment for a product or service at your property.
