Domestic rainwater tanks

Rainwater tanks can be used to store water for garden irrigation, pools, drinking water, household washing and toilet flushing.

By using rainwater in place of mains water in the garden or the home you can make an important contribution towards reducing the demand on our water supply.

You can also make some savings on your ActewAGL water account if you use a rainwater tank. However, you should determine what these savings are likely to be before purchasing a rainwater tank system.

ACT Planning and Land Authority, Environment ACT and ActewAGL have written a booklet about domestic rainwater tanks, which is on the ACT Planning and Land Authority website.

For further information on the current ACT Government rainwater tank rebate program, visit the Think water, act water website or call 13 22 81.
