Greenchoice — going green with ActewAGL

When you opt for ActewAGL's green energy program, Greenchoice, the small extra amount you pay in addition to your electricity bill each day is invested in renewable energy generation from sources like mini hydro, wind power and biomass.

Depending on the plan you choose, we'll purchase a certain amount of renewable energy on your behalf. This in turn will replace the same amount of electricity that would otherwise have been sourced from fossil fuels, reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming from your home or business.

Anyone in Australia can sign up to a Greenchoice fixed-use plan. Or, if you are an ActewAGL electricity customer, you can also choose from our percentage-based plans. What's the earth worth to you?

As of 31 March 2010, over 17,000 Greenchoice customers have contributed to saving greenhouse gas emissions. In 2009, 135,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were saved by customers taking part in the Greenchoice program. That's like taking 30,900 cars off the road for a year! So a special thank you to all of our Greenchoice customers.

The cost of Greenchoice will commence from the date your application is received and you may withdraw from Greenchoice at anytime.You don’t even have to be an ActewAGL customer to sign up, because Greenchoice is billed separately from your normal electricity account.

You will be billed for Greenchoice quarterly, and the cost is separate from and in addition to your normal electricity bill. Yes, it means you'll be paying a small extra amount each day, but you'll be joining thousands of others reducing greenhouse gas emissions from their homes and businesses.
