Electrical safety with swimming pools and bathtubs
Boy taking a bath
Water is a very good conductor of electricity. This means that electrical appliances should be kept at a safe distance from pools, bathtubs and their surrounding wet areas.
Pool filters and other electrical devices designed for use in swimming pools need to be safely installed, correctly protected by a safety switch, and checked regularly.
This goes for bathtubs too! Never place electrical appliances near your bathtub unless if they are designed for this purpose and are safe. While it might be fun to blast the stereo, watch TV, blowdry your hair and have the heater near you while you’re in the tub; these electrical appliances could easily come into contact with the water and give you a very nasty electrical shock.
