Electric blankets are a fantastic way to stay comfortable in bed during winter. However, care must be taken as electricity is used to keep them toasty warm.

When an electric blanket is not in use, it should be switched off.

Not all electric blankets can be washed, so check the manufacturer’s label before dunking them in water to give them a good scrub. The blanket’s power cord and all connections should be checked regularly for damage or wear.

Store the blanket according to the manufacturer’s instructions. In many cases this involves rolling the blanket around a cylinder.

When on a bed, make sure the blanket is flat with no folds or creases and it is secured by the tapes or tabs provided.
