Brumbies country visits - Friday 11 May 2012
The University of Canberra Brumbies annual ActewAGL Country Visits were highly successful, with stops in schools and rugby clubs throughout Southern NSW. An addition to the program this year was surprise visits by some players to the ActewAGL Energy stores in Goulburn and Young.
This year’s ActewAGL Country Visits involved 30 Brumbies Players and included stops in Cooma, Jindabyne, Bombala, Bungendore, Batemans Bay, Braidwood, Milton, Crookwell, Goulburn, Yass, Boorowa, Gundagai, Tumut, Wagga, Cootamundra, Young and Harden.

Narooma Oyster Festival - 5 and 6 May 2012
Record numbers of oysters were consumed during a sun-drenched day of tastings, demonstrations and entertainment at this year’s Narooma Oyster Festival. The festival is designed to showcase the NSW south coast’s produce, culture and artisan chefs and almost 6,500 people were treated to some of the finest seafood on the planet - in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. Some 800 dozen locally farmed oysters - that’s almost 10,000 - were freshly shucked at the ActewAGL Oyster Bar alone, with more served through other food outlets all day.

GIANTS v Western Bulldogs - 28 April 2012
ActewAGL sponsored the highly successful Greater Western Sydney GIANTS first home game in the ACT. A crowd of 9,128 people were on hand to see the AFL competition new boys take on the Western Bulldogs for the Prime Minister’s Cup. Despite going down 104-62 on the scoreboard, the GIANTS recorded some positive off-field results with 263 new members signing up in the ACT in the week leading into the game and positive merchandise sales recorded on match day. ActewAGL’s alignment to this historic event again highlighted the company’s commitment to the Canberra community.

Queanbeyan Cup Race Day - 22 April 2012
The Queanbeyan Cup race day was a huge success for thoroughbred enthusiasts with the main event on the day, the Dairy Farmers Queanbeyan Cup, won by Peal of Bells trained by Gwenda Markwell from Kembla Grange. The ActewAGL Golden Bullet Handicap was claimed by local galloper Serb Candy from the Mick Miladinovic yard.

Women and Girls Fun Run - 01 April 2012
Congratulations to all participants in the 26th annual ActewAGL Women and Girls' 5km Fun Run/Walk. Pictured are place getters Andrea Ilakovac (2nd, 18min 09sec), Louisa Lobigs (1st, 17min 45sec) and Hannah Flannery (3rd, 18min 18sec). All profits raised from the event were donated to Ov Can ACT, a charity which helps raise awareness of ovarian and gynaecological cancers.
This year’s three placegetters are coached by Canberra distance coach Richard Telford. The girls are part of a squad of 14 female distance athletes who train together each day. The girls have all been running in the Women and Girls Fun Run for many years, with Louisa recalling that she first participated in the fun Run at age 8.
Louisa is currently training for the Australian 5000m championships to be held in Melbourne in two weeks, where she is on target to run a big PB.
Andrea's pet event is the 10,000m. She will do a number of road races in the coming months in preparation for the Gold Coast 10km in June.
Hannah is training for the half marathon and will aim to keep her Canberra Half marathon title when she races in two weeks.

Skyfire Twenty 12 - 17 March 2012
FM104.7 Skyfire Twenty 12 was held on Saturday 17 March 2012 with more than 100,000 Canberran’s braving the weather conditions and lining the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The fireworks display contained approximately 4,100 aerial shells, 25,000 shooting comets, and a total of 40,000 individual pyrotechnic effects and these were delivered to a choreographed music soundtrack.
Outside of the event organisers, FM104.7, ActewAGL was one of 5 major sponsors of the event along with Westfield, Club Group, McDonalds and Canberra Milk. Of the 5 major partners, ActewAGL is the longest serving Corporate Partner of FM104.7.

Black Opal Stakes Race Day - 11 March 2012
A massive crowd of over 10,000 people and fine autumn weather saw the 2012 Black Opal Stakes Race Day live up to its billing as "Super Sunday" at Thoroughbred Park on 11 March 2012. ActewAGL was the main sponsor of the opening race on the card, the ActewAGL Maiden Plate, which was won by topweight Daline which was trained by Guy Walter.

ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show - 24 - 26 February 2012
The 2012 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show attracted more than 98,000 attendees over the weekend with Side Show Alley alive with animal and craft pavilions and the adrenalin-filled Canberra Toyota V6 Hilux Heroes and freestyle motocross. ActewAGL Alley brought Australia’s favourite TV vet, Dr Harry Cooper, to the show as well as all the cute baby animals in the Farmyard Nursery, free face painting, an ActewAGL Show photo booth, sack races and roving entertainment. We raised more than $3,500 from the sale of Dr Harry’s books and donations from the photo booth with all proceeds donated to Cranleigh School.

Multicultural Festival - 11 and 12 February 2012
The 2012 National Multicultural Festival has officially been hailed as the biggest and best on record with more than 260,000 people voraciously eating, dancing, enjoying, connecting and learning at the three day extravaganza which unfolded in Civic at the weekend. The ActewAGL Multicultural Sports Stand was a huge hit with representatives from Tennis ACT, Canberra Capitals, Brumbies Rugby, Canberra United, Canberra Cavlary and the Canberra Raiders mingling with festival goers and entertaining attending children.

Great Aussie Day Breakfast - 30 January 2012
The crowd at this year’s event consumed a huge brekkie with 4,500 sausages, 40 kilograms of onions, 250 loaves of bread, 4,000 pieces of fruit and refreshments. ActewAGL and the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets would like to thank the community for their generous donations at the Great Aussie Day Breakfast, which raised over $6,000 for Camp Quality.

2012 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Ladies Classic - 20 to 23 January 2012
The 2012 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Ladies Classic was held at the Royal Canberra Golf Course with over 14 countries represented and eight of Australia’s top ten female golfers. Over 8,000 people attended during the three days and were treated to some fantastic golf which included two hole-in-ones and former world number one Laura Davies winning the long drive competition. Karen Lunn eagled the last hole to win by four shots over Vicky Thomas with a final score of 12-under par.
