Civic zone substation extension
ActewAGL has commenced major capital works to increase the capacity of its distribution network supplying central Canberra. In particular, this is to meet existing and growing demand in Canberra's CBD.
The project involves the expansion of the Civic zone substation building and switchyard and consists of four major works.
- Installation of the third 132kV/11kV 55MVA transformer and 13 panel 11kV switchboard
- Replacement of two aging 13 panel 11kV switchboards
- Asset renewal of various 132kV switchyard equipment and the replacement and upgrade of existing control, protection and monitoring schemes on site
- Provision of a new disaster recovery facility
Construction work will be undertaken by Jemena and the project is due for completion late 2012.
