The Canberra show comes to Canberra Hospital

Monday 12 February 2018

On Friday 9 February the Canberra Raiders visited the Canberra Hospital paediatric playroom with over 100 show bags in hand.

“If the kids can’t make it to the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show, we’ll bring it to them,” said Paul Walshe, ActewAGL Director Brand, Communications and Corporate Affairs.

“We know that laughter and distraction is a big part of helping kids to recover, and anyone who has been to the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show has seen the happiness on the kids’ faces, so it’s wonderful to be able to bring some smiles to the kids here today,” said Paul.

Players Josh Hodgson, Joey Leilua and Josh Papalii handed out Adventure Time, AFL, Animal Planet, Barbie and Batman show bags filled with toys, games and gifts to children who are currently seeking treatment at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children.

“Today has been a great opportunity to meet the kids and give out the show bags. Some of these kids have been in hospital for weeks so it’s fantastic to see them enjoying themselves,” said Canberra Raider’s Hooker, Josh Hodgson.

“The ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show is an annual event many Canberrans look forward to, we want to ensure everyone gets to experience it. Today was a great opportunity to spread the love of the show,” Patrice Brandenburg-Wallace, Canberra Show Acting Chief Executive Officer.

“We will always support the events and people that make Canberra great and thanks to the support of the Canberra Hospital Foundation we can continue to make this an ActewAGL and Canberra Raiders tradition,” concluded Paul.

The 2018 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show will be held from the 23-25 of February, for more information visit:
