ActewAGL leads the Centenary of Canberra as Principal Partner
Monday 12 March 2012
ActewAGL will play a lead role in the Centenary of Canberra as the Principal Partner in what will be the organisation’s largest community-focused sponsorship. The sponsorship will see ActewAGL contribute one million dollars towards the celebrations.
Chairman John Mackay said, “The Centenary events will bring value to our customers and Canberra businesses many tens of times more than the value of this sponsorship.
“It is our absolute privilege to support the Centenary of Canberra as the Principal Partner. We were attracted to this opportunity as it’s not just about one day – a year of activities are planned to engage the whole community and, in so doing, attract many tourists to our great city from right across the nation.
“The Centenary of Canberra is the most significant event on the Australian calendar in 2013. As a city we have the opportunity to showcase what’s great about our home and the chance to leave a lasting legacy to take us confidently into the next century.
“As the Principal Partner we are looking forward to helping make the Centenary of Canberra a celebration to remember.”
ActewAGL and its predecessors’ history is intertwined with the building of the National Capital and supporting the Centenary of Canberra cements the organisation’s position as a committed corporate citizen.
Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said, “Over the years ActewAGL has demonstrated its support for the community time and time again. The fact that they have chosen to support our community for its biggest celebration in 100 years is a perfect fit.”
