Kick-off Australia Day at the Great Aussie Day Breakfast

Tuesday 24 January 2012

ActewAGL is encouraging Canberrans to kick-off Australia Day the Aussie way – with a free barbecue breakfast feast at the Great Aussie Day Breakfast, which will be held from 7.30am at Rond Terrace in Commonwealth Park.

With over 4,500 sausages, 40 kilograms of onions, 225 loaves of bread, 4,000 pieces of fruit, refreshments and entertainment for the whole family, the Great Aussie Day Breakfast will be a fun way to start the Australia Day public holiday.

The breakfast is free, however gold-coin donations are encouraged and will go to Camp Quality. Last year’s Aussie Day Breakfast saw the largest crowd to date with over 4,000 attendees raising over $5,400.

There’s plenty to do at the breakfast with some of Canberra’s local sporting celebrities there to sign autographs including players from the Canberra Raiders and Brumbies. Throughout the morning Kiwi G and Fireman Sam will provide entertainment for the whole family, along with a host of other activities taking place in the park.

ActewAGL Director Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe said, “What better way to spend Australia Day morning than enjoying a delicious barbecue breakfast, watching great entertainment with friends and family and supporting an important local charity.”

Proudly presented by ActewAGL and the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets, the Great Aussie Day Breakfast has kick-started Canberra’s celebrations of our national day for over a decade. This year Canberra Milk is also supporting the event by offering a great selection of refreshments.
